Immediately upon receiving this duvet and the two included pillowcases, I washed it and put it on my king down comforter (which I got at Bed Bath and Beyond, the brand is "Royal Velvet" if anyone is curious, I recommend it highly as well). The fabric is moderately thin and I suppose that some people would find 250 TC inadequate, but it is precisely what I wanted in terms of quality and thickness, as the climate where I live is cool enough to require a comforter but never drops below freezing, so I don't want the comforter to get any warmer. The texture is a nicely subtle striped pattern, quite soft, and the cover seems to be sewn well enough, with the comforter fitting perfectly within. The opening has a lot of buttons which are somewhat tedious to undo, but I guess that's a good thing. I'm pleasantly surprised and would recommend this to anyone looking for a duvet under $50.

Although the color is nothing like it shows in the picture ("Taupe"), I actually like it much better than the picture. It is more the color of a light chocolate vs. boring anemic tan, which goes better with the rest of my ensemble. I have not washed it yet, so will report back on that. I am happy with the quality of the set and extremely happy with the price. I have looked for a simple duvet for a comforter to use as a blanket, not a bedspread, and have looked at various stores and online and have yet to find one this cheap. Another web site has what appears to be the exact same thing for $49.99 plus $2.95 shipping. Since I'm a Prime shopper at Amazon, shipping was free. Love that! Good purchase overall (and, there are a lot of choices in colors, too).

I bought the 250 thread count because I live in Arizona, and needed a lighter weight duvet that was still soft. I washed this right away and noticed the threading was coming unraveled on some of the seams! It is really cheaply made, and rather heavy. I am going to remove it and only use it in the winter time. I'm so dissappointed with it. I thought it would make the bed look like a spa retreat, but instead it looks really bulky with my down comforter (which is not bulky at all..) So I would not recommend unless you live in a cold climate and wash it like a delicate.
